Type Locality and Naming
Lectostratotype: Prek Lovia section extending along the upstream part of the Song Sai Gon River, 1 km from the Prek Lovia mouth (E = 11°50’, E = 106°28'), Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province.
Synonym: Hệ tầng Ta Nốt: Nguyễn Xuân Bao (Nguyền Ngọc Hoa et al. 1996); Ma Công Cọ et al2001 (Permi muộn). Hệ tầng Tà Thiết (part): Bùi Phú Mỹ et al. 1986 (Permi muộn); vo Khúc, Bùi Phú Mỹ et al. 1990 (Permi muộn); Nguyễn Ngọc Hoa et al 1991; Nguyễn Xuân Bao et al. 1994 (Permi muộn)
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone and Claystone. The stratotype can be divided into two parts - the Lower includes sandstone, gritstone, thin interbeds of carbonaceous shale, and thin beds or lenses of polymictic conglomerate with poorly sorted and rounded pebbles. The Upper part is composed mainly of grey, dark grey clayey shale, siltstone, and fine-grained sandstone. The total thickness of the section reaches about 300 m (Nguyen Ngoc Hoa et ai 1991).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The stratigraphic relation of the formation with the underlying units is not observed in the stratotype. No older units of Paleozoic age are reported in this region.
Upper contact
Conformably underlies the Ta Vat Fm (= Hon Quan Fm).
Regional extent
The exposures of the formation arc limited and scattered extending in the Ta Not, Ta Thiet and Tong Le Tru areas of the upstream Song Sai Gon basin.

Fossils
Abundant fossils were found in the dark grey shale, and include the brachiopods Streptorhynchus cf. pelargonatus, Uncinunellina aff. timorensis, Chonemineỉỉa sp., Waagenoconcha cf. monpellierensis, Waagenites (?) sp., and the bivalves Girtypecten sp., Perdopecten sp., Palaeolima sp.
